Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Brash Insight?
Brash Insight Corporation is a closely held tech company based in Seattle and the provider of Feedback Advertising Technologies – the first being the Feedback Advertising Platform.
Who is behind this?
Brash Insight was founded by, and Feedback Advertising was invented by seasoned tech entrepreneur and patented inventor John Knapp. As CEO, John leads a small team of highly talented individuals who are delivering innovative technology solutions to the global advertising industry.
What is Feedback Advertising?
Feedback Advertising is an interactive advertising technology that brings advertisers closer to their customers for improved results and actionable consumer insight.
What’s so special about Feedback Advertising?
Using patented technology, a Feedback Ad sorts an audience using very engaging conversations to uncover buying traits to send each person to the landing page offer that’s right for them while reporting on the interactions that take place in each ad. That was a mouthful – we should break that down:

Sorting an audience to a collection of landing pages pre-qualifies the traffic sent to each offer to increase conversion rate.

Using very engaging conversations is a great way to combat banner blindness. People love to engage and can hardly resist sharing their opinions and beliefs. Don’t you think?

Reporting on the interactions in the ad gives the advertiser access to deep consumer insight they can’t get anywhere else.

I know Flash, why can’t I just do this myself?
Perhaps you could but it’s harder than you think! Our Platform eliminates expensive and time consuming custom programming and takes care of lots of tricky details. So focus on what you do best: Create ads that sell and leave the rest to us!
Is the Feedback Advertising Platform easy to use?
Yes. Starting with one of our sample creative units (we call them Creatives,) you can produce your first Feedback Ad in about 5 minutes without any programming at all. You can download and traffic that Feedback Ad, start making sales and collecting feedback right away.
Can a Feedback Ad use animation, images, audio and video?
Yes, pretty much any rich-media functionality your media partners allow can be used in a Feedback Ad. The questions and multiple choice answers can be text, images, audio, video, animations… you name it. Your Feedback Ad collects feedback by tracking consumer clicks on buttons in the ad. We keep the Feedback Advertising functionality in the background so you can focus on producing breakout ads that really get your message across.
Can a Feedback Ad be any size?
Yes, although most people stick with IAB Standard Ad Units. Our Platform doesn’t lock you in to any size but speaking in practical terms, conversations take a certain amount of space.
Can I run a Feedback Ad anywhere?
Yes, anywhere you can run a SWF ad, you can run a Feedback Ad. If you traffic your ads through an ad serving system that supports the industry standard clickTAG exit syntax, you’re all set. But you don’t have to use an ad server, a Feedback Ad SWF can run anywhere you can run a SWF.
What is an Ad View?
An Ad View is similar to an “ad impression” but is a fairer measure of value. We only count an Ad View when the Feedback Ad SWF file has been received by the consumers computer and has launched in their Flash Player. If that consumer doesn’t support Flash, you don’t get charged.
I’ve never heard of an Assorter, what’s that?
At the heart of every Feedback Ad is a set of multiple choice questions connected to landing page offers. We call that an Assorter, (which is a noun for a thing that sorts,) because it sorts the people who interact with your ad into various buyer profiles so they receive the landing page offer that’s right for them. You write the Assorter for each ad or select an existing one from your Assorter Library.
What’s the difference between a Creative SWF and a Feedback Ad SWF?
A Creative SWF determines the size, appearance and behavior of the ad but it doesn’t contain an Assorter or any of our Feedback Ad programming. You create and upload your Creative SWF documents to our platform then assemble your Feedback Ad. When you create a Feedback Ad, you select an Assorter and a Creative, then we create your Feedback Ad SWF and make it available for download and use. Note that a Feedback Ad SWF is about 4KB larger than the Creative SWF it contains.
If I use a clickTAG, what’s the exit URL?
